As I've mentioned before I am not a crafty person however every now and then I attempt knitting or sewing. My husband taught me how to knit and over time I've become somewhat competent. (He still has to help me cast off.) As for sewing I'm self taught and can only sew a straight line and attach a button.)
This fall/ holiday season I'm hoping to utilize my skill, despite my lack of expertise, to give back. After a bit of research I found The Dulaan Project. Dulaan is the Mongolian word for warm. "The Dulaan Project is an effort of the Flagstaff International Relief Effort (F.I.R.E., 501c3) This project seeks to inspire the generous spirit of the knitting community to help meet the urgent needs of Mongolia's impoverished people."
My goal is to knit as many hats and scarfs as I can between now and December 1. I would love for anyone to join me in my knitting venture. I will collect any knitted items by Dec. 1 and ship them to The Dulaan Project. It would be awesome to have at least 30 items to ship.
Please visit the Dulaan Project website to learn more about the project and find knitting patterns.

Over the course of my knitting I will give updates on my progress. Hopefully all this knitting will help me learn to cast off all by my self!
