I've always known the benefits of recycling and tried to recycle whenever convenient. But ever since I worked on "It's Easy Being Green" a special for The Fine Living Network I've become an advocate for all things green.
In our home we practice green routines. Here are just a few of the things we do in a effort to make the world a greener place.
Cloth Diapers - Every year millions disposable diapers fill landfills across the United States. By using cloth diapers we not only reduce pounds of waste but we also save a lot of money.
Cloth Napkins - Instead of paper napkins we opt for cloth napkins which not only save save trees and money but they are much prettier.
Cold Water Wash - We always wash our clothes in cold water. It saves us a lot of electricity and helps clothes last longer.
Recycle - This may seems like an obvious idea but check your local recycling center to get a list of recyclable items. You may be surprised how many things can be recycled. In addition to the regular items you can put in the bin we make an effort to take larger items directly to the recycling center.
Drying Rack - After we wash our clothes in cold water we hang them to dry on a drying rack. This saves a lot of electricity and makes our clothes sunny fresh!
Reusable Shopping Bag - Many companies offer FREE reusable shopping bay and I love anything free. So we always use these free bags when we go shopping.
Reusable Lunch Bag - Instead of brown bagging it we jazz it up with a fancy lunch box. Cute and reusable!
Home Water Filter - Forget about bottled water and purify your water at home. Besides at least you know how it's really getting purified this way!
Kleen Kanteen - Forget bottled water bring your drink from home. Stylish savings!
Walk - If you live in a populated are walking is such a simple solution. It's great for the environment and great for your health.
CFL Light Bulbs - Simple to do and saves lots of money!
Reuse Gift Bags - Always save a gift bag to use it later.
Turn of the water while your brush your teeth.
Water plants in the AM - This reduces losses from evaporation.
Wear Socks - turn the heat down and bundle up
Cancel Junk Mail - Even if you do recycle it's still better not get it in the first place.
Use old Cards to make gift tags - Cut out the pretty pictures on the front and attach them to your recycled gift bag.

Fun little projects.
Jewelry Frame
I finally finished a long awaited/planned project... no not the baby, but my jewelry frame! For the total cost of: $FREE I made this super awesome jewelry frame that not only keeps my jewelry organized and tangle free but is nice art above my dresser.
How did I make such a cool frame?
1. Old picture frame from grandma
2. Old guitar strings (preferably E and A)
3. Staple gun
4. Jewelry
Practical, Fun, Recycled, and Free... can't beat that!
