Vote for my post on Mom Blog Network

Recipe Request

Spaghetti, Tacos, Chili, Baked Chicken, Pizza.... If you look my weekly meal plans you'll see that we eat these meals alot. I'd really like to spice things up, literally!

We used to have cable and I loved watching The Food Network but alas the cable company wised up and stopped our free cable. I have a few cookbooks and there's always the internet but I want to know for sure that it will be delicious and not a waste of my time and money.

I love my crock pot and try to use it at least once a week but that requires planning and remembering to thaw the meat which doesn't always get done. We aren't picky eaters. But we do have a few rules.
1. Eggs are for baking.
2. Mayo is a no no since it has raw eggs in it.
3. Baby Jude is allergic coconut... nothing else, just coconut.
4. We eat meat but we also like vegetarian meals.

So here is my request to all of you cooks and non-cooks alike. What is your favorite meal to cook? I need some inspiration, but inspiration that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I've really been digging spicy red thai curry with veggies and chicken over jasmine rice.
I use the Taste of Thai red curry paste and mix it with a can of lite coconut milk. Get your jasmine rice going, Stir fry your peppers and onions, grill or sautee some chicken, whisk up the sauce and enjoy. Takes 20 minutes from prep to plate. Warning, spicy!

If you're worried about raw eggs, you should try a pasteurized egg.

As a recent college graduate, I am all about quick cheap and tasty. One of my favorites in actually pasta and tuna (if your kids like fish). Sautee up onions, celery, and canned tuna in olive oil. Add salt, pepper, and a little bit of garlic to taste. Toss into regularly cooked spaghetti with more olive. Top with parmesan cheese. Super easy, and costs about $2 per serving!

Happy SITS Sharefest!

i love making soups. i usually just throw a bunch of veggies in a pot with some veggie broth and canned tomatoes/spices and it always turns out good.

Isn't that an annoying rut to be stuck in? I get stuck in it too. Do you guys like quiche? It's really quick and easy- but it's pretty much all eggs. It's one of my boyfriends favorite meals. I also made a tasty tomato basil soup last week that was pretty easy. Good luck! :)
