Making Ice Cream

Joe's parents bought us an ice cream maker for our wedding and until a few weeks ago we never used it, primarily because we didn't know how. So one day we decided to try it out... we followed the instructions that came with the maker to the "t". However, we ended up with warm milk and scrambled eggs! So a few days later we mustered up the courage to try again however we wisely decided to forgo the enclosed instructions and use the recipe Joe's mom gave us. Fortunately we finally found success!

Gloria's Ice Cream Recipe
1 Quart Milk
1 Quart Half & Half
5 Eggs
2 Cups Sugar
2 Tbs. Flour
1/2 Pint Whipping Creme
1 Tsp. Vanilla

Step 1 Combine 1 Quart Milk with 1 Quart Half & Half in a double broiler and scald. (do not boil)

Step 2 Beat together eggs, sugar and flour

Step 3 Add egg mixture to milk mixture and cook 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 4 Pour into a large bowl, cover with wax paper and cool.

Step 5 When ready to freeze add creme, fruit and vanilla.

Step 6 Freeze and Pack
