Will Charlie Barlett be the new Ferris Bueller?

On February 22nd a new movie entitled, "Charlie Bartlett" will be released. Honestly, I don't know much about the film but from the brief previews I've seen the main character seems slightly familiar. I don't think I'm the only one when I recongize the similarities between the two charachters.

I mean even the movie posters have a similar feel:

The Charlie Barlett character is said the be a mix of John Hughes, "Ferris" and Wes Anderson's, "Rushmore". We'll see if newcomer director John Poll can pull off this potentially brilliant combination of fun and melancholy. Much like the battle of wills between Ferris Bueller and Mr. Rooney there is a reoccuring confrontation between Charlie Barlett(Anton Yelchin) and the school administrator, played by Robert Downey Jr.

Gustin "Nash’s screenplay veers toward ponderous life-lesson preachments while Poll’s direction balances things out with rebellious energy. Poll, an accomplished film editor and occasional producer (2005’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin) weighing in as a feature director, proves especially well equipped to convey the philosophical antagonisms between Yelchin and Downey."
